Q & A
Lash Extensions

“Can I wear makeup to my eyelash extension appointment?”

Nope! Please come without any makeup on residue of makeup around the eye area.  Anything on your lids or lashes could have a reactive affect.

“Do eyelash extensions ruin your natural lashes?”

There is a myth that eyelash extensions may ruin your natural lashes. However, when lashes are professionally applied using high quality glue, products and the client continues to look after them, there will be no damage.

“Can I swim or shower with my eyelash extensions?”

You can, at least 24 hours after your appointment. Swimmers, gym and spa goers may find infills are needed sooner than others due to the lashes getting wet more often.

“Can you wear eye makeup with eyelash extensions?”

We do not recommend using mascara with lash extensions. Why? Because when you attempt to take it off at the end of the day, you can actually cause your extensions to break from the friction and makeup remover. Volume lashes are hand-made lash fans, therefore, eye makeup will close the fan and look like an individual hair. As for eyeliner, avoid using cream-based formulas. They often contain oils and waxes that can break down lash glue.

“What is our lash cycle?”

We lose 1-5 lashes a day and on average, a person can lose up to 20% of their natural lashes every two weeks. Natural eyelashes grow in and fall out in cycles, which occurs every 60 to 90 days. A new eyelash has already been growing to replace the lash that falls out and for most of us, we don’t even notice.

If you have ever noticed how your hair sheds more during certain seasons, you’re not alone! This is called “seasonal moulting” and it’s completely natural for lash and head hair!

“Lash extensions or strip lashes?”

We all have busy lives. Lash extensions save you the morning mascara application as well as make you feel you can apply less make up. If you are going on holiday or have a special occasion, you no longer need to worry about lash strips sliding off and always packing your lash glue. Unlike the temporary lash strips, lash extensions are customisable making them look a lot more natural.

“How do I know what I want?”

Do not worry – this can all sound too confusing! On your initial full set appointment or patch test if you require one, Elise will examine your natural lashes, eye shape and determine what look you are trying to achieve. After 4 years of lashes, her expertise will be able to guide you!

“What are the lash glue ingredients?”

Ethyl Cyanoacrylate, PMMA, Carbon Black.

Microblading

"What is Microblading?"

Microblading is a form of semi-permanent tattoo where pigment is implanted into the skin with a hand-held tool in a series of thin lines to simulate natural hair strokes.

"What's the difference between microblading and a tattoo?

A standard old fashioned tattoo, usually using dark permanent ink with a machine, results in stamped-like solid shapes as eyebrows. Not only can this look very unnatural and eventually leave an unflattering grey color but will last as long as 20-30 years to a lifetime. Microblading, on the other hand, is a tattoo technique that creates a series of hair-like incisions. The pigment used is semi-permanent and only lasts up to about 1-2 years. In result, microblading not only simulates a much more natural aesthetic than the old fashioned tattoo but provides the flexibility to change the shape of the eyebrows as both trends and faces change over time.

"Do I still get my eyebrow done like normal?"
Because the hair around my eyebrows will still grow right?!) Yes you can still get threaded or waxed as usual after you’ve healed however, do not do before your appts as it will make the area more sensitive and could results in more unnecessary pain.

"Should I groom before my appointment?"
We prefer you don’t as I like to work with any hair given however, you are more than welcome to if done one week prior and any method accepted just not waxing please as it can cause pre-caused trauma the area.

"What if I am unsure of the shape and color I want prior to my scheduled appointment?"
All is customized based on your personal comfort level, preference, lifestyle, etc. I can give perhaps pros and cons but ultimately, it would be your decision so be sure to review the healed results in my highlights carefully and seeking photos of previous clients with your natural brow pattern.

"Can I do if I have Keloid in the past?"
Not if you have a history with Keloids on the face but even if you only have had a history with Keloids on the body, you may still have chances to Keloid on brows.

"When can I wear makeup again after the appointment?"
You may wear makeup as normal while avoiding the brows and area around the brows such as forehead while healing. After fully healed (1-2 weeks) you may wear makeup on and around brows as well but please avoid pomades and stick to pencils or powders as pomades have been known to cause over exfoliation to the brows resulting in lifting of color and patchiness.

"How long does it last?"
It varies based on your skin type and after care but it can last up to a year without touch ups. Some people say it lasts 3-5 years but what we do is the same across the board so it’s not necessarily as if one artist is using stronger pigment than the other to allow it to last 3-5 years, they may just mean with touch ups it can (but anything can last long with touch ups).

"Is it painful?"

On a scale from 1-10, it would be about a 3. It feels very similar to small paper cuts. I will also be using numbing cream during the service.
